Hoarder Cleanup Services
Hoarding situations require a sensitive, non-judgmental, and patient approach. Drip Restoration's team understands that hoarding disorder is a recognized mental health condition — not a choice. We work with compassion and respect to help clean, organize, sanitize, and restore properties affected by hoarding, supporting individuals and families through an incredibly difficult process.
Our services cover every severity level, from moderate clutter with sanitary concerns to extreme situations involving biohazard conditions, structural damage, pest infestations, and uninhabitable living conditions. We coordinate with social workers, therapists, and family members to ensure a supportive, collaborative cleanup process.
Hoarding Severity Levels
The Institute for Challenging Disorganization (ICD) classifies hoarding on a 5-level scale. Understanding the severity helps us plan the appropriate response:
Level 1 — Light Clutter
All doors and stairways accessible. Minor clutter and no unsanitary conditions. May need professional organizing support.
Level 2 — Moderate Clutter
One room not usable for intended purpose. Light odors, some pet concerns. Cleaning needed but no major health hazards.
Level 3 — Significant Clutter
Multiple rooms unusable. Visible dust, pet waste, or pest evidence. Some structural concerns. Professional cleanup recommended.
Level 4 — Severe Hoarding
Major portions of home unusable. Sewage, mold, pest infestations, and structural damage present. Biohazard conditions may exist. Professional remediation required.
Level 5 — Extreme Hoarding
Home is uninhabitable. Major biohazard conditions, severe structural damage, no functional utilities. Full professional remediation and likely extensive repairs needed.
Our Cleanup Process
- 1
Confidential Assessment
We visit the property (or review photos if the occupant prefers) to assess the situation, identify health hazards, and develop a cleanup plan. Everything is kept strictly confidential.
- 2
Planning & Coordination
We work with the occupant, family members, and any involved professionals (therapists, social workers, case managers) to establish priorities and comfortable pace.
- 3
Sorting & Decision-Making
We help sort items into keep, donate, recycle, and discard categories. The occupant makes the decisions — we never force disposal of items.
- 4
Debris & Waste Removal
Unwanted items are removed using our trucks and dumpsters. Recyclable materials are separated. Hazardous waste is handled according to regulations.
- 5
Deep Cleaning & Sanitization
Once clutter is removed, we deep clean all surfaces, treat for odors, and sanitize areas affected by biohazard conditions (pet waste, food waste, mold).
- 6
Pest Treatment Coordination
If pest infestations are present, we coordinate with licensed pest control companies for treatment before or during cleanup.
- 7
Repairs & Restoration
We address any property damage — drywall repair, flooring replacement, painting — to restore the home to a safe, livable condition.
